Criteria for Judging Visual Arts Exhibits

Content (30 points)

  • Significance of the ideas, issues, and/or objectives as creative research in the visual arts
  • Relevance of the work to contemporary art, visual culture, or contemporary issues

Display (30 points)

  • Quality of the technical execution in the work
  • Attention to how the work is displayed

Oral (40 points)

  • Presenter's ability to orally communicate the concepts of the work in an accessible language
  • Presenter's ability to communicate artistic context in an accessible language

Jury Composition

Judges will be assigned at random. Students should expect that their entries will be reviewed by judges unfamiliar with their specialties.
