DENTON, Texas (UNT) – The work of College of Visual Arts students at the University of North Texas will be featured in the UNT Painting and Drawing Show, an exhibition running from April 3 (Friday) to April 30 (Thursday) at UNT on the Square.

Faculty members nominated undergraduate and graduate students to appear in the show. The final selections were made by three master's of fine arts students --Rachel Fischer, who received her bachelor's from UNT in 2008; Kai Peter Martin, who is also a teaching fellow in studio arts and Michelle Thomas.

It is a drawing and painting show but the definition of what constitutes drawing and painting is really broad," Fischer said, adding that were are no size, media or content restrictions.

Fischer said letting the graduate students choose the artwork gives them the opportunity to learn more about the curatorial process and interact more with undergraduate students.

CVAD students are frequently critiquing and talking about their fellow students' works and she is excited about seeing what aesthetic and theme emerges from the show.

Fischer recommended local residents see the show.

"It's going to be an exciting opportunity to see emerging artists that are from their community," Fischer said. "They will get to see work that is the future of galleries in Dallas, Fort Worth and beyond."
