International Admissions

HEED Awaed

In addition to the steps for admission listed on the traditional admissions page, international applicants should review the following information for other application requirements and priority dates.

Departments may have requirements such as personal statements, letters of reference, auditions or portfolios that must be sent directly to the department. Ask your academic department which program-specific application materials are required.

Individual programs may have varying deadlines and requirements. Please check with your department for details.

Priority Dates

All applicants must complete the Toulouse Graduate School admission requirements, but most programs have additional requirements and program-specific applications. Contact your academic program for information regarding program-specific deadlines as they may be earlier than the priority dates listed below. Applying by the following dates increases your chance of I-20 processing, if admitted.

International Application Priority Dates

Fall April 15
Spring Oct. 15
Summer Jan. 1

Transcripts

UNT requires official school transcripts, diploma and degree certificates from all universities attended. After we process your application from ApplyTexas, you will receive an email with access to the MyUNT portal to upload scans of your official documents to be used for evaluation.

  • These MUST be in both English and your native language, if applicable. English translations must be from either the academic institution or a certified translator.
  • UNT will also accept credential evaluation reports from NACES-member evaluation companies.* For more details on this option, see below.
  • Once all documents are received, we will evaluate and forward them to the academic program for an admission decision.
  • If admitted, students are required to submit original, official documents before registering for classes. These should be mailed or emailed directly to UNT from the university’s registrar or records office, or you can bring to them to our office in person in an institution-sealed envelope.
  • If you attended a U.S. institution, those transcripts must be sent directly from the institution to UNT. These cannot be uploaded with other documents. Most U.S. institutions are able to send transcripts electronically. Please contact your school directly for more details.

To send original, official documents, please use the address below. Please note that documents cannot be returned.

English Language Proficiency

UNT degree program applicants are required to demonstrate English Language Proficiency which can be met through a variety of options including TOEFL, IELTS and DuoLingo. You can find more details about score requirements, how to submit scores and more on our complete list of ways to demonstrate English Language Proficiency.

If you do not meet these requirements, we encourage you to consider UNT’s Intensive English Language Institute.  You must apply for IELI directly with the Division of International Affairs.

Statement of Finances and proof of funding documents

If you will be studying on an F-1 or J-1 visa, you must show proof of financial support. Once admitted, to request an I-20 to attend UNT, you must submit all required documents via iNorthTX – UNT’s new online system for managing international student and scholar cases.

You can log-in to iNorthTX by clicking the log-in button. Your case status will be available once you log-in to iNorthTX.

If you are having difficulty navigating the I-20 request process in iNorthTX, please contact International Student and Scholar Services at internationaladvising@unt.edu.

Sponsored students should contact the UNT Sponsored and Special Programs office.
